Walk in the Rain is the second installment of the three-part Gladys Bentley Project. This project touches explores the complexities of Gladys' life and career towards the end of her life, from her inner struggle with her sexuality and gender expression to her shifting music career.Born and raised in Detroit, Vahn Black grew up surrounded by the sounds of Motown, Jazz, Techno, and Gospel music. Black's work in music research and passion for storytelling is at the center of her music. Her latest work centers stories of blues giant Gladys Bentley’s life and career as told in the 1952 Ebony magazine article I Am a Woman Again.
