Becoming X is the debut studio album by English electronic band Sneaker Pimps. It was first released on 19 August 1996.Liam Howe and Chris Corner met as teenagers in the 80s. They formed Sneaker Pimps in Hartlepool in 1994, becoming forerunners of the trip-hop genre. They were joined by Kelli Ali (then known as Kelli Dayton) on vocals, with Ian Pickering writing the lyrics.
Their debut album Becoming X went Gold in 1996, spawning the hit singles ‘Spin Spin Sugar’ and ‘6 Underground’.
Sneaker Pimps released their chart topping debut album 'Becoming X' in 1996, and quickly became known for clever sampling, emotional lyrics, and high production. They released 2 more albums before taking a hiatus to explore their own unique styles. Now they've returned with a long-awaited 4th album 'Squaring The Circle'. Learn more at the links below.
