Sigrid Moldestad has found her inner tone on this album. The album Tonen i meg is both fragile and powerful, skinless and comforting, melancholic and uplifting. It represents all the contrasts in life, crystallized in small stories that are basically about all of us. Past and present goes hand in hand in many of the songs. Small glimpses of a bygone era that puts our troubled time in relief with Moldestad's voice in the middle as a warm hug, in this cold time we´re in. With her, she has her standard band for many years. An exquisite group of playful, listening and exploratory musicians.
- “Tonen i meg is about the different tones I, and hopefully everyone, has in us. There are various reminders of old stories and pictures, your own loneliness and longing, the riddles of the past and the ones we have become.” - Sigrid Moldestad
With the exception of one children's song and a cover version of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreaming the dream", all music and lyrics are written by Moldestad herself. The album is arranged and shaped in a collective process between the musicians in her band. Like the previous album Vere her (2017), Yngve Leidulv Sætre has had an important producer role.
The album extends from a dark, lingering opening, to wildness and wonder, storytelling and realizations, before it takes us home to the magnificent Våtedalen in Norway, where Sigrid comes from. It all ends with a lullaby to calm down and finish the album.
