It's been a long wait but The Vigilant Sower is finally here. While the songs themselves often come quickly, getting things recorded properly, organized and ready for post production, sent off to Ariosto (the only person on the planet patient enough to help tame my chaos) often takes longer than I wish it did. Much gratitude to Ariosto.
I am quite proud of this album. It holds much of me, my love for the land, fauna and flora of my birth. Both the sadness and the beauty of our mortal condition and the rituals to help get through to our goals, ephemeral as it all is, ultimately.
While the majority of this music is brand new, a couple of songs are reworkings of my past, as far back as thirty years. Both "Mere Breath" and "Of Sand And Saturn" were originally composed and lyrics written decades ago. Of Sand And Saturn was originally composed in 1992 and recorded in March of 1993. I am including the original recording as a bonus track (Digital only) so you may witness how time can change a song.
The same for Mere Breath but it was originally written in 1994 and never actually recorded properly. It just stayed in my head this long. The new version does, of course, have great changes from the much harsher and heavier original, as well as a proper title, additional lyrics and an end, which were not completed back then.
I am also including the B sides from the two previously released singles on the digital version as they do actually help document the entirety of these recording sessions that compile this album.
There are plans for physical media in the works but it may be a while. It takes a lot of money and even more time to get vinyl produced. The vinyl masters are finished, the printable jacket done, but the money and time are always overwhelming for artists at my level.
If you're of the financially secure audience and wish to donate to such causes, I would certainly be forever grateful. I don't expect anything like that of people by any means, it's just worth saying, I guess.
Much love and gratitude to you all and anyone that ever takes time to listen to my creations.
Thank you all, so much.
