Every Second an Ocean

It's always hard to put into words how we feel about the songs and the project that we've been working on for so long. To us these songs mean a lot and we're very happy with the decisions we made, along the way. We hope you enjoy the album and we're always happy to get feedback from you.

We started writing these songs in 2022 in our little rehearsal room in a bunker in hamburg. No windows, no distractions. The light dimmed to the bare minimum. Letting go of our debut Amygdala and wondering what we could do next. We started by jamming around and recorded all these first jams on the phone. We never went deeper into the structure of the song but mostly asked ourselves how it makes us feel. When we listened back to these demos, we liked the appeal of these innocent first recordings, that had so many beautiful moments just because the band played by ear, by feeling and by giving space to each other, always following each others ideas. The demos had some happy accidents in them that you can't recreate when you structure the song and know it by heart inside out. So we never set a definitive structure. We wanted us to rely on our feelings, when we would go to record these songs in the studio.

We also felt the urge to open up a bit in these songs, to make them more accesible and to present maybe a brighter or softer side compared to Amygdala, just to reflect more of the bands internal personality and emotional state. That also was a reason, why we stuck to the demo approach to give the songs an intimate feeling.

Looking back at the production process we tried to be as close as possible to the first jams of these songs and recorded the instrumentals live. Luckily Hannes Haindl created a perfect recording situation for us in his studio, where we all felt really comfortable and could just focus on our feeling while playing the songs.

The album was recorded in a snowy week in Schalltona Studios in Hamburg in the winter of 2023/2024.
