In 1974, Shin Otowa 音羽信 (Elia Taniguchi) recorded this album, わすれがたみ (wasuregatami, "memento") at Gyoen Studio in Tokyo with his friend Makoto Kubota & others, with assistance from his life partner Yuko Suzakui 朱雀井ゆう子, who worked at the studio at the time. It was self released on vinyl - only a few hundred copies were made nearly 50 years ago. After this project was finished, Taniguchi-san went on to live in Ibiza, Spain, from the mid 70's to the mid 80's, and after went on to become a successful architect and poet, running an architecture firm in Tokyo. Throughout his career, he has designed large commercial buildings in Tokyo and elsewhere (including Shisedo HQ in Ginza), residential and office spaces, a big shopping mall with an outdoor plaza that sees 35 million visitors a year, concept cities in China, and more. He has also written dozens of books of poetry, art theory, architecture, and music. He currently resides in a rural area in the Tokyo suburbs and continues to be an involved artist and musician.

This cassette reissue comes with a full fold-out lyric sheet and features photos not previously released with the LP. Professionally dubbed and packaged at National Audio Company, this tape will start shipping sometime in May of 2022.

音羽信の「わすれがたみ」の復刻です。日本人の心象風景が美しく歌われている1974年のプライベートプレスがようやくアメリカで日の目を見ます。このプロジェクトを可能にしてくれたMakoto Kubota (Les Rallizes Denudes)に本当に感謝します。

1974年、Shin Otowa 音羽信 (Elia Taniguchi)は、久保田麻琴をはじめとする友人たち、そして彼の人生のパートナーで、東京のGyoen StudioのサウンドミキサーをしていたYuko Suzakui （朱雀井ゆう子）とともに、このアルバム、わすれがたみ (wasuregatami, "memento”)をレコーディングし、ビニールLPとして数百枚セルフリリースされました。50年近く前のことです。

谷口（音羽信）さんはこのプロジェクトの後、70年代半ばから80年代半ばまでスペインのイビサ島に住み、その後日本に帰り、建築家・詩人として成功しました。東京で建築設計会社を経営し、銀座の資生堂ビルや、年間35万人が訪れるアウトドア広場を備えた大型ショッピングモールなど、住宅・オフィススペース、中国の新都市創造のためのコンセプト創造などを行いました。彼はまた詩、美術理論、建築、音楽などの本を数十冊も書いています。 現在は東京郊外の田舎に在住し、アーティスト、ミュージシャンとして活動を続けています。
このカセットの復刻版には、全面折りたたみ式の歌詞シートが付いています。また過去にリリースされなかった写真を収録しています。 ナショナル・オーディオ・カンパニーでプロフェッショナル録音されパッケージ化されたこのテープは、2022年5月にリリースし、皆さまへの発送を開始します。
