Founded in 1988, the first official album "Nine66" of the German gothic rock band The Cascades was released in 2001 followed by three additional albums ("Corrosive Mind Cage", "Spells And Ceremonies", "Dead Of Dawn") until 2006 when singer and band leader Markus Wild left. After another album ("Something To Happen") with Ben Richter as vocalist, it became quiet around the band. Now, they are back with founding member Markus Wild at the microphone and present a remarkable retrospective show of their work with two new songs, the best tracks from the official albums as well as a special compilation of so far unreleased songs and demo versions in form of the double CD "Diamonds And Rust". The band still knows their stuff which is proved by the brand-new song "Wenn der Regen kommt" with German lyrics and catchy gothic rock tunes embedded in a modern production. The selected songs represent the band's musical range very well which becomes even clearer when listening to the unreleased songs
which at times reveal their wonderfully raw gothic punk roots ("Why Should I Pray", "Time Train"). "Diamonds And Rust" represents three eras of band history. At first, the time before the first official albums from 1988 to 2001, then the official albums as from 2001 and a promising outlook into the future as the band is already working on new songs which for sure will smoothly pick up where "Wenn der Regen kommt" has started.
