‘Worth Control’ is CINTA’s sophomore release. However, rather than it being a chronological artistic step forward, it feels as though we've turned inward, taking a deeper, more introspective journey into the heart of our expression. We've sharpened the vision we had for our first record, and ‘Worth Control’ truly shows how we've grown and come into our own. Like any good musicians we’re equally enamoured by the classics as we are contemporary, boundary-stretching music, so our goal is always to marry these ideas within our own composition. This union of old and new-school creates a solid platform for our wonderful songwriter, Cinta to demonstrate the magnitude of her vulnerable and authentic storytelling. It’s true-to-life music you can feel in both heart and mind. It’s undeniable that ‘Feel Good’ touched this but ‘Worth Control’ fully embraces it. This is immediately apparent as the rhodes introduces the first track ‘Grip’ a stripped back serenade that instantly commands the listener’s full attention. A deeply resonant lead vocal will at times have you feet planted, standing still while densely layered backing vocals aim to move through you like the holy spirit. Trumpet, saxophone and flute-embellished melodies float high above the surface while the low end anchors, providing a sense of gravity and keeping you on the ground. Throughout the album, CINTA explores the nuances of love, of relationships, from the exhilarating joy of new found love on the up-tempo ‘Loyalty’, to the fury of betrayal on the scathing, slow and smouldering ‘Worth’ through candid and relatable lyricism, her band with her at every word. Through the lens of modern Australian soul/RnB ‘Worth Control’ accesses and explores the full range of raw human emotion in a way that CINTA has always hoped to.
