State of Silence follows the lives of four journalists in Mexico who have become targets of repression for sharing and exposing the reality in their communities. This portrayal urgently exclaims that freedom of the press cannot remain under siege.

Mexico has been one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalism for several years. According to Article 19, there have been 163 murders since the year 2000 and 32 journalists have disappeared. In 99% of cases, the murder of a journalist remains unsolved.

State of Silence is a documentary directed by Santiago Maza and produced by La Corriente del Golfo, the production company founded by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal. The film has been selected for over 25 international festivals and has received two major awards: Best Documentary at the Red Sea Film Festival and Best Film at the Santiago Film Festival.
