Max was a naughty little punk rocker in 1977 and he formed a band with a bunch of buddies that was quite busy on the Birmingham scene in those heady days (for the full story, you're gonna have to wait for his forthcoming book on the history of Ausgang) and who recorded some largely forgettable demos during their time. Except for a couple that still stand up pretty well. As Ausgang aficionados, we thought you may want to add them to your archives.

This one was recorded by Phil Savage at his Outlaw Studios on Feb 27, 1980, and it's a pretty simple punky/reggae tune with amateurish lyrics, but which Max doesn't have a problem with you hearing. After all, he was only a baby...

In 1982/3, Ausgang evolved out of the ashes of various punk/post-punk bands in & around Birmingham, UK. 'Goth' was in the process of becoming a 'thing' and we got caught up in the whole exciting, sexy mess. To be honest, the early days were the best - playing songs about love, sex & the 'human' condition'.When we reformed in the 2000's, we had no idea of the legacy we'd left behind...
