Release notes by Whitelabrecs :
"Andy Cartwright, an artist based in France who was originally from Oxfordshire in the UK presents his latest album Yonder, an evocative journey through textures of weather, ASMR, and dreamlike soundscapes. Known for his work as Seabuckthorn and releases with labels such as Fluid Audio, Lost Tribe Sound, and IIKKI, Cartwright brings years of exploration in sound engineering and acoustic experimentation to this release under his own name which follows 2023’s ‘Below The Noise’. With a career that began in the early 2000s, Cartwright’s DIY ethos and innovative approaches to sound design continue to drive his creative process.
Yonder was crafted through a meticulous layering of microsounds, field recordings, and experimental processing. Using tools like Ableton and granular synthesis software Cartwright merges acoustic instruments, including piano and unconventional guitar techniques with electronic textures. The result is a collage of sonic environments that feel both intricate and organic, reflecting his fascination with over-processed and mutated audio forms. Tracks on Yonder unfold with a watery, outdoors inspired quality, enhanced by subtly implied rhythms, pulses, and hidden layers that reward repeat listens.
Cartwright describes the album as a project born out of unhurried experimentation, creating a meditative escape from his guitar-focused works. The immersive soundscapes of Yonder beckon listeners to explore its depths and uncover its nuances, offering a unique auditory experience shaped by Cartwright’s years of auditory exploration and boundless creativity."
