'Landings' is a series of recordings produced for the West Pennine Moors of Lancashire, UK. Originally published as two discrete albums (the first under a pseudonym) via the artist's own Sustain-Release Private Press, the second album was reissued on vinyl (2009) and CD (2010) by the influential Manchester-based experimental music label Type Records. A third instalment was produced in 2011 to coincide with an exhibition of the work at Dublin's Douglas Hyde Gallery.
These three albums now comprise 'The Complete Landings':
(1) Carousell ~ Landings (28th June, 2006)
(2-13) Richard Skelton ~ Landings (28th June, 2009)
(14) Richard Skelton ~ Rapture (28th June, 2011)

Praise for 'Landings':
‘A primeval tonal language … like the land singing to itself.’
(Backseat Mafia)
‘Skelton’s music transcends a simple representation of the moorland landscape. It channels the essence of the landscape.’
(Area Journal)
‘The sound of private ritual, loaded with personal significances. It is a privilege to hear.’
(XLR8R)
‘The most sustained musical and literary project of the last two decades … a profoundly deep mapping of a highly specific location.’
(Landscapes Journal)
‘With ‘Landings’, Richard Skelton has created something vast, resonant and timeless. The work and drive behind it has created a document that requires a new kind of categorisation.’
(The Line of Best Fit)
‘His music proceeds as if by geological processes: time feels stretched out, layers accumulate and interlock into complexity, and it’s underpinned by a gravity and drift whose appeal is at once emotional and elemental, as if these sounds have always hung shimmering in the spaces between air and land.’
(Frieze Magazine)
