Originally released as a cassette, limited to 50 copies on a lovely green clear cassette shell. These tracks were recorded in Flagstaff, when I was working and living as a cowboy, off the grid in the middle of nowhere. And recorded just before my first daughter was born. I recall dubbing cassettes as we were waiting to go into labour.

There was a deliberate effort to inject a Bossa Nova vibe into the songs. Which, listening back a decade and a half later, I think I sort of managed. I'm pretty pleased with listening to them today. And would love more than 50 people to hear these songs, (tell yr friends!)
I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but I'm still pleased with the lyrics to "Nottingham" and "They're Making Money Off You". And the chord pattern to "Victory Bruises". I have no idea where that song came from. When I was younger songs would just appear fully formed out of nowhere. I'm glad I documented them.
I still write songs now as I hope you know, but by the time I've set up amps and mics and all that malarky I sometimes have forgotten my original intent,

Why did I release these songs as "Stewart" and not "Boyracer"..???.. Maybe I thought they were stylistically too different to the crash and burn fizz pop I was known for at the time. I dunno. But I'm super happy I rescued these songs from a stack of unmarked CDrs that haven't seen sunlight since they were burnt at the time of their creation.

I did write to Wreckless Eric at the time, through Myspace, (I really did), and was thrilled to receive a response from him telling me he loved my version. Which still does mean an awful lot to me. "Whole Wide World" is the greatest 2 chord song ever written and Wreckless Eric is a genius songwriter. (And,I miss Myspace).
I also covered Alternative TV "Love Lives Limp" another cracking amazing song. Super fun to play and sing. Maybe I should send Mark Perry a copy...
